Strategies To Improve Production System Through Automation

The production system is making its advances by using automation. The automation of a system maintains the flexibility, comfort and safety. There are ten strategies which are used for improving the automation of any system. They are:
  1. Special purpose equipment: Special purpose equipment is used for each and every operation which makes the production easier. Special purpose equipment which is inbuilt with the automation equipment improves the production efficiency,
  2. Combining all the operations: As in the previous strategy if the separate machines are used then there will be more wastage in time and even material handling also becomes difficult. The waiting time and the non operation time are being increased with usage of the separate machines. So, a machine with all the operations combined is used which makes the system work with more efficiency.
  3. Simultaneous Operations: The next step after combining all the operations is the phase where the operations which are to be performed on the basis of the similarities. Suppose assume that the operations which should be undergone are the two process operations then these operations can be done at a time or simultaneously
  4. Integration of operations: Several work stations are being integrated to perform the required operations and material handling of the system also becomes easier. This in turn increases the overall output of the system.
  5. Making the use of flexible automation: This automation makes the system to get more work flow and even decreases the set up time and even the process or programming time. And then makes the system work with more productive efficiency.
  6. Material Handling and Storage: The reduction in the time can be done by using the automated machines for material handling and even the storage systems are being automated for reducing the storage times.
  7. Inspection: Earlier inspection is done after the production of the product. Then the error is inspected after obtaining the final product. So, in order to reduce the errors at the time it occurred and this process finally results in reducing the scrap and more production will be done easily.
  8. Process control: The phtthttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrocess control techniques are used for operating the process and even the equipment easily and efficiently. Here the individual processes are being controlled.
  9. Plant Operations Control: Here the entire plant is being controlled. Where as in the previous case only the individual equipment is controlled. Here for the controlling purpose the computer network technology is used.
  10. Computer integrated manufacturing: Now-a-days use of computers is increased extensively. It maintains the whole enterprise by the use of the computer Integrated manufacturing.
These are the planned activities which are used for making the productive system efficient.
