Effective Tips for Hiring Right People

The role of recruiting is to hire the right person from the group of the people who attend for the interview. Of course, it is quite a difficult task to assess persons depending on a formal or technical interview which the hiring team had with the candidates. In order to evaluate the strengths and possibilities of the people, interviews are often scheduled in to different rounds and hence can successfully filter the candidates who are not fit for that particular job profile. However, employing few strategies and following effective methodologies helps the recruiters to make the process easier as well as effective. Let us see the things which are important in hiring right people.

Know completely about the job: The tricky thing in hiring people for various departments in the same organization is to know completely about the job responsibilities. It can be possible with a simple discussion with the department heads but in order to get a clear view one needs to spend a day or a couple of hours in the respective departments so that the recruiters get a practical idea on the key skills required to handle that particular role.

Need for a recruiting strategy: This is often developed by the recruiting heads and if it is not present in the organization, create your own strategy and make sure that it is effective in selecting the right people by following it for a couple of people. If you find it beneficial and if not, learn from your experiences and try to modify it according to the requirements.

Use a checklist: Prepare a check list which helps you in making sure that you are not missing any of the important things and hence improve the chances of effective recruiting.

Be practical in your questions: Even though this is not applied to every round of interview. Most of the rounds need to follow this rule except the technical round as it is based on the theoretical and subject related things. In the rest of the interview make sure that you are being practical and always be ready with your practical set of questions for the interview so that you can compare the answers of the people and can choose the right set of people.

These are few effective steps which can be of much help when practiced well and in an organized manner.

Tips for Choosing Child-Friendly Hotels

It is obviously painful to look for the best hotel when planning a vacation. However, you should consider many things that ensure a peaceful stay. If you have young children, then you should be much more careful to get all the necessary requirements. Certain things like physical construction and amenities and the attitude of owners of the hotel should be considered when choosing a child-friendly hotel.
Check if the hotel provides a refrigerator in the room. If you have one, you can keep bottles, juice and snacks for your child in it and serve when needed. Also consider if the travel rentals or hotels provide indoor pool or play area. Look for the equipment like portable cribs and chairs. Some hotels provide cribs while some do not. If you wish to use the equipment for your kids, then make sure that it is reserved as part of the confirmation.
Even some hotels offer babysitting services. So, you can take advantage of such services. However, before you use them check the references, length of employment and safety considerations (like CPR and first aid) of the babysitting services. There are also some hotels which provide children's menu. You may not enjoy your vacation when your kid cries with hunger. Rooms with child-friendly choices of menu helps to relax your kid and yourself.
The other thing you should look for in a hotel is elevators. Some hotels do have elevators while others do not. If you have children and need to go to your unit at higher floors, then it is very much problematic and need to look for other options. There are many more things like presence of supplies like restaurants, bakeries and others to ensure a child-friendly hotel. Choosing such a child-friendly hotel makes your trip happy and peaceful.

College Students are the Latest Victims of K2 Effects

After marijuana's possession made illegal, a spice has emerged in to market which is popularly called as K2. Since its use is made legal in some states, it became an legal alternative for marijuana which is giving more similar effects like marijuana.
According to Substance Abuse Treatment, Prevention, and Policy 2011, which examined the prevalence of K2 use among a sample of students, showed that the use of K2 was increasing. The study was conducted to determine the characteristics of the persons abusing it and to find the association between K2 drug abuse and the use of some other illicit drugs.
Ever use of K2 was reported by 69 out of 852 college students, who constituted 8% of the total. But the response rate was 36%. The researchers also assessed whether any social-demographic characteristics and other drug use were associated with ever use of K2.
Among this 69 individuals, 61 had used a cigarette to smoke K2 and 25 members used a hookah. And they also found that K2 use is more among males. The research concluded saying that K2 use was higher than ever use of many other drugs of abuse that are commonly monitored in adolescents and young adults.
The government is making enough laws to control the drug abuse. Recently, it banned five synthetic cannabinoids but still the problem is existing with some or the other drug. The health officials are more concerned about substance abuse among youth and they are suggesting to monitor the use of this drug in college students over time, so that preventive methods can be implemented.

Molecular Imaging Shows Chronic Marijuana Smoking Affects Brain Chemistry

A collaborative study between the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) revealed that chronic marijuana smoking affects the brain chemistry. According to the NIDA, marijuana or cannabis is the mostly used illegal drug in America. As per the study, it was found that there was a decrease in the number of the cannabinoid receptors that are important for mental and physical functions like movement coordination, concentration, pleasure, memory, pain tolerance and appetite.

As a part of the study, 30 chronic daily cannabis smokers were monitored for approximately four weeks. These people were subjected to positron emission tomography (PET) to find the changes in the physiological processes in the body. A radioligand, 18F-FMPEP-d2 is a combination of radioactive fluorine isotope and a neurotransmitter analog which binds with CB1 brain receptors. It was found that the number of cannabis receptors in the cannabis smokers decreased about 20 percent when compared to healthy control subjects with limited exposure to cannabis during their lifetime.

When 14 of the 30 subjects were re-scanned after one month of abstinence, there was an increase in the receptor activity in the areas which were deficient at the beginning of the study. It indicates that the chronic cannabis smoking causes down regulation of CB1 receptors and the damage is reversible with abstinence. The information resulted from the study was found to be useful for the development of novel treatments for cannabis abuse. It also revealed that the decreased receptors in people who abuse cannabis return to normal when they stop smoking the drug.

Factors Affecting Dental Health of the Elderly

As one grows older, many health problems arise because of their weakened body systems. Among the many issues, oral health problems are common in the elderly. Various dental problems such as tooth loss, dental caries, periodontal diseases and so on are seen in senior people. Certain risk factors make them more prone to different kinds of dental issues.
Aging is the primary factor affecting dental health of the elderly. As they age, the gums begin to recede and this may further lead to many other dental problems. However, regular flossing and good oral hygienic practices can lessen the gum recession, thereby promoting healthy gums. Another important thing is that seniors suffer from a common problem, dry mouth. A dry mouth is a condition where the saliva content in the mouth is less. Certain medications may even promote this situation. As saliva in the oral cavity is less, there is less chance to throw away the bacteria and food particles. The deposition of these elements, however, causes plaque or tartar formation that can lead to gum diseases. It is even found that people, especially women, suffering from osteoporosis have a higher risk of periodontal diseases.
Elderly people face limits on insurance and money to afford for dental treatment. Hence, they avoid getting treatment for any dental issues that are already present. Another consideration is that they are unable to go to the dental office and neglect even if they suffer from serious oral problems. In addition, there are also very limited trained dentists who are willing to go to the elderly for checking their dental needs.
In addition to the above factors, poor diet, improper oral hygiene, side effects of medications and recurrent decay around older fillings are found to cause dental issues in the elderly.
