Do Kids Need Yoga?

A consistent practice of Yoga regularly promotes strength, flexibility, posture and good coordination, as well as teaches children how to relax, concentrate, and be quiet and still. Yoga has three aspects: the Asana or physical practice, attention to breathing and the mental practice of using the mind well.

Nowadays, many people are facing stress including children or kids as a result they are having more health issues so early in the life. We all know that Yoga is well known exercise for reducing stress and health related issues and has becoming popular in today’s world even though it is known from its ancient days.


Kids are born yogis physically. Any infant can stretch some or sit up some postures naturally without an effort. Kids play many games in their routine life. It is enough for them if they have enough playing time and place. Yoga is needed who do not play at all and don't have any place to play.
Kids are stressed because they have their own demands like going to school on time, attending tutorials, birthday parties, appointments, day care, sports practice. After attending all these demands, then it comes to rest because they get tired or pressured. Nervous system doesn’t have the opportunity to slow down. They end-up the day with restlessness, anxiety and many physical ailments. This is the time where Yoga might help them to relax from the stress.

Mentally, Yoga is helpful to all. Learning to sit quietly is helpful for our nervous system and our health too. It is about learning to do what is right for your own body. It helps the kids to develop their self-respect and teaches them how to find balance in their lives. Beyond these benefits, it also helps in combating with stress and curbing attention disorders.
