How Yoga Helps In Improving Memory and Concentration

Everyone should understand that there are memory problems prevailing in all age groups. Children and teenagers are likely to forget things. Most of the adults are very busy and have several distractions, they just will not have time to remember all the things. Seniors are more prone to have difficulty in memorizing names, items on a list, or the place they put things.
Generally, no person has a "perfect" memory. Most of what occurs around is forgotten because of feeling of not to remember all the things.

There are several yoga techniques which help in stimulating the brain and nervous system to enhance memory and concentration.
  • Dharana: It is the exercise of Concentration. Dharana influences and reduces the engrossed mind. The mind is made to be firm at one place instead of making it deviate. This lessens strain on the mind and also mental strength increases. Through regular concentration, the work can be done effectively and efficiently. The everyday practice of dharana will decrease the fluctuating attitude of mind and a different type of peace can be observed throughout the day. The sixth process of yoga is a form of focused attention used at the time of doing yoga postures. Dharana prepares the mind to be clear, focused and one-pointed.
  • Pranayama and
  • Meditation.

In asana, gazing point done especially at the time of balancing postures, enhances mental concentration. Spine expansion postures, the forward and back bending postures will energize the spinal column and also activates the nervous system.
