Know How to Maintain Oral Health Hygiene

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems and enable you to look and feel good. Oral hygiene also makes it possible to eat and speak properly. The mouth that looks and smells healthy doesn’t has any oral diseases.
By following the below things we can maintain good oral hygiene:
  • Regular teeth cleaning prevents debris. Regular brushing or flossing without hurting the gums will remove any kind of bad breath present in the mouth.
  • Proper brushing and flossing of teeth daily prevents the bacterial problems which are very painful, worrisome and expensive to treat.
  • Regular visits to the dentist will greatly decrease the risk of developing tooth-decay and other dental problems.
  • Make a habit of eating a healthy balanced diet and avoid hard drinks, sweet items etc.
  • Use fluoride containing dental products and toothpaste.
  • Rinse with a fluoride mouth rinse as per the suggestions given by the dentist.
  • Drinking fluoridated water or taking a fluoride supplement for children is necessary for those who live in a non-fluoridated area.
  • Daily cleaning the tongue is essential since it removes the fungi, dead cells from the tongue, white and yellow plaque containing bacteria,decaying food particles and prevents in tooth decay and gum problems.
  • Massaging gums with toothbrush bristles will help to prevent receding, gum disease, and cavities between the teeth.
  • Oral instigators can be used which use a pressured, directed stream of water to disrupt plaque and bacteria.
  • Oral hygiene is not only important in maintaining a healthy dental condition, but also the whole human body system, as the food we take passes in to the body through oral cavities only.
