Benefits of Random Drug Testing at Schools

Illegal drug abuse has become common among adults as well as teens. Some teens wish to experience the pleasure of drug consumption. Some others are habituated to drug abuse due to peer pressure. Depression and stress due to some problems at schools and other places are some other reasons that make students use illegal drugs. Drug abused students lack interest in learning and you can see sudden drops in their grades. Many schools are therefore conducting random drug tests at schools to identify such students.

In random drug testing, certain students are selected randomly in a group and are tested for drug usage. Students are not informed prior about the test. So there are no chances of finding alternatives to adulterate the sample of drug testing. It also avoids singling people out. There are even no chances for the parents to claim and argue that the results are unfair.

Conducting random drug tests at schools breaks the rate of students getting addicted to the drugs. As many students consume drugs occasionally, certain signs like red or glassy eyes, and other physical signs can be detected. However, to confirm that they had used drugs, random drug test should be conducted on suspicious students. The administration of school should warn such students and implement certain disciplinary actions. They are educated on the dangerous effects of illegal drug usage to break their possibility of getting addicted to the drugs. Parents are mentioned about the status of their kids and are given some suggestions. Apart from the random drug tests conducted at schools, parents should also perform drug testing at home to make sure that they are not attracted to drug usage.
