Employment drug testing is conducted by the organizations after the design and establishment of certain procedures and policies. It is performed on the employees at different levels. The employee drug testing may be done prior to the joining of the company. This is referred as “Pre-employment drug testing”. It was made important by the courts to perform employee drug tests as a condition for

When the tests are performed after hiring, that is post-hiring, for the present employees, it is referred as “Post employment drug testing”. In order to perform these tests the organization has to educate the employees regarding the importance and safety of the employee drug testing.
The employment drug testing is legal and is made compulsory for certain organizations such as Department of Transportation for the concern of truck drivers.
