Global-Positioning-System is a global navigation system and it is based on space and reliable location and time. Information is provided by this in any where on earth and at any time. United states maintain this and with a GPR receiver, any one can access this.

American Department of Defense created and realized this GPS system and it runs based on 24 satellites. They established it to reduce the navigation aids and to overcome the previous navigation systems limitations.


Applications:

GPS is being used to support the navigation over the world, it will help as a tool for map making, commerce, land surveying, tracking and surveillance, scientific uses, and hobbies like way marking, Geo caching. In many applications GPS is used as a time synchronization source for cellular network protocols and in the scientific study of earthquakes.

GPS is providing ground and maritime operations and navigation for aviation. Every day facilitates are provided by GPS like mobile phone operations, banking, and control of power grids. By using GPS signals surveyors, farmers, geologists and others are performing their work safely, more efficiently, accurately, economically.


It is used in navigation, target tracking, missile projectile guidance, search and rescue, reconnaissance and map creation in military.
