Most of the people are turning to extended warranty plans to protect their vehicle investment. Extended warranties can say as health insurance for the engine. In fact, these are most similar to automobiles insurance or extended service plans and nothing more than that. It will stabilize the repair costs and cover most of the major breakdowns. You can purchase an extended warranty at any time before the manufacturer warranty expires. Even after expire the manufacturer warranty you can purchase this but the prices are considerably up.

Most of the people get the peace of mind and will take without any check if they got any extended warranty used car. However, while taking an extended warranty or used car, which is having such warranty, check what they will cover. If they are not showing the agreement walk away.
  • Check is it real need for you: Many companies offer extended warranty on power train and engine components. The warranties are limited on certified used cars. Consumers can get excellent protection in most of the cases with this. If you want to keep your car for a long time or you drive your car more than twelve thousand miles per year, the extended warranty plan can offer a kind of security for your vehicle.
  • Search for the warranty company: Before you are going to by an extended warranty plan for your vehicle, check for the warranty company reviews. There are number of online reviews available on each company. There are some people write badly about the company and the product. Check for a little more reviews but no decide with one or few reviews.
  • Consider who is offering: There are basically three organizations that offer the extended warranties. Those are Third parties or independent companies, used car dealerships or new car dealerships and automobile manufacturers. Based on your flexibility and interest you can choose any of them.
    • Manufacturer: The dealers backed by a manufacturer repair with nationwide network. There will no haggling about components, price or repair. Check if the dealer network is available in your area before choosing. It might have highest upfront costs.
    • Dealer: When you want to buy from a dealer the upfront costs are lower. You have to service your car only at that dealer only. If they are unable to fix the problem the risk is your part.
    • Independent: Usually these are offer at lowest cost. You may go for service only to the mentioned local repair shop or dealer. Most of these are not reliable.
  • Select the right plan: The bumper to bumper plan offers the most coverage but the upfront costs are very high. Everything on the vehicle except exclusionary wear and tear parts is covered. It is minimum deductible in general per repair, but opting for higher per repair decreases the plan's initial cost. You should need to check for the plan renewable and transferable to other owner. Read clearly about the plan, especially coverage, repairs perform area, cash payments before repair. This is because each provider and the each plan is different.
Many warranties do not cover the upholstery, clutches, oil changes, light bulbs, brake rotors, and brake pads. Because most of these are considered as wearable. So check them thoroughly.
