Baby Proofing: How to Make Your Home More Infant Friendly?

Making your home that is more infant friendly, not only helps you in maintain your house but also your kids too individualized.

As your baby grows, they do number of things that they can get into. Things that used to be safe are now an accident waiting to happen. Baby proofing your home does not have to change the way you live. There are simple ways to keep your baby safe and give them the freedom they need to explore their surroundings.

To make your home infant friendly there are a lot of things you need to consider in preventing accidents to your child.
  • Always keep small objects out of your kid's reach. This can be any thing small (paper, glass piece etc.) which they can put in their mouth and can be hazardous to them.
  • Even don't use window treatment cords because some times rods may fall on them. Instead shorten them or consider cordless blind, shade, or drapery styles.
  • Avoid using a plastic or wooden toy box with a hinged lid. If you give this your child may get trapped into their holes.
  • Keep away all dangerous substances (liquid or otherwise) in an upper-level cabinet. Including laundry supplies, cleaners, alcoholic beverages, medications, bug sprays, and garden fertilizers.
  • Sometimes houseplants can be toxic, so keep outside.
  • Locks and latches need to be changed. Suppose if your child locks inside a room you may unlock the door. So make arrangements in such a way that you need not be worry.
  • Use the correct gates to not to step away from your gate.
  • Remove the sharp edged furniture for some periods or pad the sharp edges of furniture.
  • Always wrap the small kitchen appliance cords so that they cannot accidentally be pulled off the counter.
  • Place audio and video equipment on furniture so that they cannot be accidentally pulled down.
  • Secure free-standing room features to walls to protect toddlers who use furniture to pull themselves up so they can stand. This includes bureaus, floor lamps, entertainment centers, and the like.
  • Always keep emergency telephone numbers in your hand so that if any emergency you need call that hospital.
