What are the Myths and Facts on Marijuana?

Marijuana is also known by other names: cannabis, weed, grass, pot etc. This is the drug which is very commonly used for intoxication, in many countries especially, in the United States. There are so many people supplying marijuana illegally to teenagers which makes them easy to get the drug.

There are so many myths about marijuana on which people believe. But the facts are surprisingly different.

Myth # 1. Marijuana is safe compared to any other drugs.
Fact: Most of the people especially teenagers believe that marijuana is safe to use. But the effects are adverse on brain and the body.

Myth # 2. Marijuana makes driving safer than usual driving.
Fact: Most of the teenagers think that it is safe to drive after using marijuana because they can decrease the speed of the vehicle by concentrating more. But the fact is that they can't react quickly in the emergency situations and can't control the vehicle due to the lack of concentration and hand eye coordination.

Myth # 3. Marijuana is not an addictive drug.
Fact: It is not that everyone who use marijuana will become addicted to it. Daily and almost daily users, people who start abusing at their early or young age and long term users will have greater chance for addiction.

Myth # 4. Marijuana doesn't cause cancer.
Fact: It is not everyone who smokes marijuana becomes a cancer patient, but the risk of increasing chances of cancer is more than that for non abusers because it is has more than 400 chemicals related to cancer.

Myth # 5. No medication is available to treat marijuana abusers.
Fact: It is true that presently there is no medication available to treat marijuana abuse, but the treatment programs focus on counseling and group discussions and meeting to quit consuming marijuana.
