What are Various Types of Materials used for Barcode Labels?

A wide variety of barcode printers like Zebra printers are available in market. They are used for printing different types of barcodes. The labels used for printing barcodes are of different types. Some of them are paper, polypropylene, polyester, and destructible vinyl.

Paper:
Paper labels are mostly used in places having short-term barcode applications. These labels are white papers having a permanent acrylic adhesive at the back. The cost of paper labels is very less and affordable by many small businesses.

Polypropylene:
This material is a white plastic film having a thickness of about 3 mil. It has a high adhesive backing. Barcode labels which are used for indoor applications for longer periods can use polypropylene.

Polyester:
Polyester is a 2 mil thick film. It contains a permanent acrylic adhesive and hence is highly durable. It can resist many types of petroleum based chemicals and other mild solvents. Barcode labels made with polyester can be used at chemical industries and other applications which require long-lasting labels.

Destructible Vinyl:
It is a white film which is very fragile. When you try to remove the label, it easily breaks into small pieces. The label thus cannot be removed completely. So it is used for security labels where labels cannot be removed.

Aluminum:
It can withstand abrasion, caustic and solvent liquids, and sunlight. Aluminum labels can be used for identification of fixed assets and equipments which can be subjected to harsh environments.

In addition to these types, ceramic and stainless steel are also used as label materials for barcodes. Various types of barcode like Symbol barcode can be printed on different types of label materials by an efficient barcode printer. Good quality barcodes are produced by these ways which can be read easily by barcode scanners.

Get an Idea About Barcode Scanning Options for Your Business

Using barcode technology can benefit any business. Barcode is machine-readable data, which is read by the barcode scanner. Barcode label is imprinted by barcode printer. If you want to use the barcode system for your business, you need to choose the right barcoding system. For this you need to understand your options.
There are many types of the barcode scanners with different method of scanning and the technologies, which are available in market. There are different methods of scanning used in barcode scanners such as: the pen type, semi automatic, fixed mounted and gate readers. An operator is needed by the pen and semi-automatic type of scanners in order to function. Many people use this pen barcode scanners because they are durable and portable. You can find this type of printers in Symbol barcode scanner.
The fixed-mounted and the gate readers are better choice for large-scale businesses' barcode systems. These two scanners can read the barcodes automatically, so scanning can be done in faster manner.
Second, technologies applied in scanning and decoding. There are different options such as pen or wand scanners. In order to capture the data from the barcode labels, a light source and photodiodes are used by these scanners. A laser scanner is also used in the photodiodes to read the code. The difference among them is using light source. A laser beam is used by the laser scanner.
The omni directional scanners are most commonly used barcode scanners by various industries. It provides best results, though it is uses most complex technology. The above information is about the barcode scanning options which can be used for your business.

Using Barcode in Supply Chain Management

Now a days barcodes are using in every field and industry, supply chain management is one of them. Using barcodes, makes business integration process simpler and more efficient in supply chain management.
Generally barcode labels are used to identify the products in supply chain management. Barcodes are read by the barcode scanners, which is one of the barcode device. Supply chain management is the system which includes the storage and movement of the raw materials, inventory and all range of finished goods from the beginning point to the ending point in their use. It is difficult to manage all related activities of the supply chain management like sourcing, conversion, procurement of the supplies and more. Barcodes can be

What is the Difference Between Linear and 2D Barcodes

Barcodes help the businesses to improve the workforce productivity and efficiency of the business. Businesses are increasing speed, effectiveness, and accuracy for better customer by integrating the barcode technology in their businesses.

Generally barcode system contains the barcodes, external database, barcode labels, scanners and printers. Barcodes labels are printed on different products or items by barcode printers. Barcode printers are essential for businesses, who use the barcodes. So it is important to use the reliable barcode printer such as Zebra printer - ideal for any organization or business. Barcodes are many types, but 1D and 2D are basic types of them. There are few differences between them, such as:

Linear barcodes:
These barcodes contain parallel black bars on white spaces which represent the data. There are common 1D symbologies such as, UPC, Code 128, and Code 39, which are used currently.

The data on these barcodes is stored in horizontal direction, because linear barcodes consists of vertical bars and spaces. Barcodes are considered as one dimensional barcodes.

A smaller amount of data is stored by linear or 1D barcodes. Generally it can be up to 12 or 20 digits. It has one draw back - if the barcode is poorly printed or it is damaged, then it is difficult to retrieve the stored information.

2D barcodes:
These barcodes have more data representation capability. They can contain more information in detail. They are in a matrix or stacked format. These barcodes can store data in both horizontal and vertical directions of a barcode. They can encode several thousands of characters, which a machine can read.

Large amount of data can be stored in these barcodes in a smaller space, so they can save the space. Though barcode is damaged, information or data can be retrieved by the these barcodes. Zebra printers are best to read these types of barcodes.

What are the Advantages of Barcode Printers?

The use of barcodes has been increasing day by day in most of the industries. Because of the advantages of the barcodes, they are widely spread. So, the use of barcode printer has been increased moderately in order to meet their services. They are many types of printers depending on the requirement. Some of the barcode printers are laser printers, inkjet printers, thermal printers etc.
